How to prepare for a tattoo session?
Before your planned tattoo, it is important to properly prepare your skin. Avoid sunbathing and using a solarium for at least a few days before the session. UV radiation can weaken the skin and make it more susceptible to irritation and infections. Well-moisturized skin makes work easier and reduces the risk of irritation. You can use a moisturizing cream or body lotion at least a few days before the session. If you have very dry skin, start applying moisturizer well in advance. Hair removal, especially just before the session, can irritate the skin and make it more susceptible to redness and inflammation.
It is also important to limit the consumption of alcohol and other substances that can negatively affect the body during this period. Alcohol has a dehydrating effect and can weaken the immune system, which is especially important in the context of healing a tattoo. Alcohol affects blood clotting, which causes excessive bleeding and makes tattooing more difficult.
Before the session, it is a good idea to get enough sleep, which will allow the skin to regenerate and prepare for the tattoo. Alcohol negatively affects the REM phase of sleep, which leads to its fragmentation and lower quality. This results in sleep after alcohol being less regenerative and can cause fatigue, as well as difficulty concentrating, which will certainly translate into lower pain tolerance.
The day before the session, it is worth making sure not to eat too heavy meals, which can make you feel bad during the session. Eat something light that will give you energy but will not burden your body.
Take something to eat and drink for the session.
It is worth choosing clothes that will allow easy access to the place that will be tattooed. It is best to take something to change into, clothes can get dirty with tracing paper or ink, which will then be very difficult to remove. Remember that it should be something comfortable, because you will have to sit or lie down for several hours. We don't wear shoes in the studio, there are flip-flops on site, but I recommend bringing your own for hygiene reasons. You can also bring your own blanket in case you get cold.
Remember that proper preparation for a tattoo is the key to being happy with the results and comfortable during the entire process.
